It's been a long time since Mahindra & Mahindra has been refining the next generation Scorpio, which is slated to go on sale sometime early next year.

A recent story that surfaced on the internet offered some light on the vehicle's potential debut date, feature list, and engine configuration. From the spy photos, it is clear that the future Mahindra Scorpio will have a more evolutionary design approach when compared to the current Scorpio models.

With a price tag below the well-received XUV700, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is slated to be built on an upgraded body-on-frame platform, allowing for greater proportions and a more spacious cabin in the process.

In addition to being larger and broader, The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will have an interior that has been completely redesigned to keep up with the latest competitors, and the features list will be more advanced as well.

In addition to six airbags and terrain response modes, The New Mahindra Scorpio will have a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected features, LED headlamps and tail lamps, a digital multi-information display (MID), a 360-degree bird's eye camera view, dual-zone climate control, an engine start/stop button, sequential turn indicators, and a regular sunroof, according to the report.

ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), a panoramic sunroof, 10-speaker stereo, adaptive cruise control, and other options present in the larger XUV700 will not be available in the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio because it would be positioned below the XUV700.

In addition, it has been speculated that the brand has made significant efforts to improve the ride comfort of the SUV.

When it comes to performance, the turbocharged diesel engine is expected to be offered in two different tunings: a lower 130 horsepower for the entry-level model and a higher 160/170 bhp for the remaining trims of the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio.

In addition, the 2.0-liter mStallion four-cylinder petrol engine will be made available for purchase. According to reports, The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be available in both seven- and six-seater variants.

Even while the existing Mahindra Scorpio will be marketed alongside the 2022 Scorpio, we believe it will be phased out soon, and the diesel engine in a more refined state of tune might have a starting price of around Rs. 12.99 lakh (approximately).

Mahindra may choose to launch the new model of Scorpio in July 2022, to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Scorpio.
